Librarian and Digital Designer
Curating knowledge, designing with imagination
Hello, and welcome! I'm Julia Reed - a librarian, creative professional, and digital enthusiast based in South Texas. My career and education have taken me from South Texas to Maine, Chicago, and the Southwest - each place shaping my perspective and enriching the diverse skill set I bring to both my library work and digital design projects.
Library Work
With a background in library science and information design, I currently work remotely as a Digital Experience Librarian at the University of Phoenix, managing digital resources while contributing to reference services and content creation. Previously, I spent fifteen years working in public and specialized research libraries. My specializations include reference, collection development, and digital services.

Outside of my work as a librarian, I’m a digital artist, surface pattern designer, and photographer who believes in the power of color to bring joy to everyday life. Through Julia Reed Creative, I create cheerful patterns, bold illustrations, and nature photography inspired by organic shapes, playful design, pop art, and the beauty of the world around me.
My work draws from South Texas flowers, Southwestern landscapes, natural textures, nostalgic details, and geometric forms. Whether I’m photographing a blooming garden or building a new pattern, I aim to create art that feels colorful, thoughtful, and a little magical.
